ResMan UX Style Guide

When I first joined ResMan, I noticed there was no process at all for design. There was no style guide set in place and the engineers were designing components and pages themselves. We needed to have design consistency and the engineering team needed something to refer back to for all design related problems, so I saw the need for a UX style guide as a solution to this problem. Below is the breakdown of how I created the style guide:
-
Met with junior designer on my team to collaborate on the creation of the style guide
-
Conducted an audit of the current design on the platform
-
Created a list of the necessary UI assets we needed
-
Made the layout for each element we were going to cover for the style guide
-
Divided the work between myself and the junior designer
-
Conducted research for each element / component against industry standards, ADA and best practices
-
Provided UI examples of do's / don'ts
-
Reviewed each element / component together
-
Released the final UX style guide once everything was reviewed and approved with the engineering leads

Timeline: 3 months
Team: UX team (myself and the junior designer)
Successful? Yes

Additional notes: The UX style guide was received really well and we went on to create a B2B style guide for our B2B products and we also audited and modified the existing B2C style guide that a third party consulting team did prior to my arrival at ResMan.
